Connecting science and art
I enjoy working with artists who are interested in science and the natural world. Art can bring natural history and wild places into in urban environments, peoples' homes, and across continents. In addition to the innumerable intrinsic benefits that art brings to communities, art can engender a love for nature and provide an intimate connection with species, landscapes, and scientific ideas that may otherwise be inaccessible.
I have had the pleasure of connecting Dave Showalter, a nature photographer, and Tony Hochstetler, a sculptor, with a charismatic lizard I studied during my PhD: the greater short-horned lizard. Dave joined my field team for several days as he was working on his beautiful book, Sage Spirit, which includes a fantastic photo of the greater short-horned lizard. His blog post following this visit features the lizard.
Tony was working on a sculpture of a horned lizard when he joined me for a day in the field. He wanted to observe movement and natural habits of the horned lizard in its natural environment. His photoblog includes lizard images from his visit to one of my field sites.

Film
In 2017 I participated in a workshop to learn how to create films through which I could communicate science and am looking forward to applying my new skills to create short science films. The event was hosted by the Wyoming EPSCoR program and instructed by the brilliant Morgan Heim and the amazing Dr. Jane Zelikova. During this workshop, I wrote a love poem to science and my team and I created a rap video to showcase what we love about science. You can view the video here.
I have also produced several short films using time lapse photography. Links coming soon.

Gallery
To share my research and the beautiful places I love with a broader audience, I photograph my study subjects, their environments, and other fascinating ecosystems. I sell my photographs at WyoMade in Casper, Wyoming. All photographs are property of Reilly Dibner and may not be used for profit or promotion without permission, but are freely available for educational use. I encourage educators to inquire about other photographs that can contribute to your teaching and learning goals.
